About the Data
The multiphase flow data available in the FlowDa database are from experiments in straight, circular pipes. Each experiment is characterized by (independent and controlled variables):
- Flow velocities (USG, USO, USW)
- Pressure and temperature (P, T)
- Pipe parameters:
- Diameter
- Inclination
- Wall roughness
- Fluid properties
The primary measurements (dependent variables) are:
- Pressure gradient calculated from several pressure measurements along the test section
- Liquid hold-up estimated from various measurements
For each experiment, a nominal value is given for the independent and controlled variables. However, actual measurement values for these variables are also given. Note, in this web interface, filtering is done on nominal values.
Each measurement is characterized by a location: This is the axial location along the pipe from some reference zero. If the location is set to zero, the measurement is taken outside the straight test section or may not be relevant.
